Rui is a former English teacher. He has great communication skills, and always thinks positively, no matter what. Rui has no qualms with jumping headfirst into unknown worlds, so when Michio invited him to become an idol, he handed in his resignation on the spot. He doesn't seem to be skilled at much other than English and has to have Michio teach him all of kanji he can't read¹.

• The name Rui means "class, kind, sort, family, genus" (類).
• Rui's surname Maita means "dance" (舞) (mai) and "field, rice paddy" (田) (ta).

Trivia

• Rui went to the same college as Hokuto, and they were part of the same tennis club.
• Rui loves surfing and part of Chris's "Friends who love the ocean" group chat along with Ryu.
• Rui apparently doesn’t do his own laundry and just slips in a shirt every day into Jiro’s instead.
